The Sunday Scaries
Everyone gets “The Sunday Scaries” at some point in their life and for anyone who doesn’t know what this is, “The Sunday Scaries” is a condition where the sufferer experiences anxiety the evening before returning to work after some time off. Something I often felt in previous jobs!
I joined Quaytech in January 2019 as a Software Support Developer and, with my 1-year work anniversary just around the corner I thought I would give you an insight on what it’s like to be a part of an up and coming tech company and explain why I no longer get that sinking feeling in my stomach as I go to bed on a Sunday night!
I have huge job diversity
My role covers support, development, QA, consultancy, admin, and so much more. Each day here is different than the last and that keeps thejob extremely interesting!
Every day I enhance my transferable skills
The experience you gain being part of a small company isimmense! You must adapt your skill set based on the task of the day, so it hasto be wide, varied and up to date.
This puts your career development at an incredibleadvantage as you are exposed to such a wide range of roles within one job!
Team work makes the dream work
When joining Quaytech at the beginning of the year I had a shed tonne of information to take in about clients, projects, systems and development ideas, and if it wasn’t for my team I could not have done it.
I had the guidance when I needed it but was also giventhe space and time to investigate, learn and fail where required- which hasturned out to be one of the best learning tools of all!
I feel valued
Everyone in the team has their own strengths and weaknessesand we all bring something different to the table, therefore I can see where Ipersonally add value and contribute to the success of the company and itssomething that I am very proud to be a part of.
Here’s to another year at Quaytech, another 365 days of learning and growing! And it’s safe to say “The Sunday Scaries” will not plague my day of rest any time soon!
